No Grocery Shopping for a Month - Day 2
Fresh Produce, Frozen Conveniences, and Pantry Staples
(Our Usual Style of Eating Simple Meals)
Eggs with Cheese, Grapefruit, Toast (and Ketchup!)
We’ve only been buying groceries once a week. So, the second day of the no grocery shopping challenge went smoothly. It was pretty much cooking as usual--a mix of fresh fruit and vegetables, frozen convenience foods, and staples such as bread, eggs, and cheese.
Today’s Frugal Foods Breakfast
Microwave scrambled eggs, topped with cheddar cheese. Buttered toast—the last of the bread! Fortunately, we have the ingredients to make more in our bread machine. We also had sweet, juicy, red, Texas grapefruit sections. And, milk.Today’s Frugal Lunch
Pork and potato curry from yesterday. Served with crunchy carrot sticks and strips of sweet, crisp, yellow bell peppers. For dessert, chocolate chunk walnut brownies, which a friend gave us for Christmas. And, milk. Today’s Frugal Foods Supper
Chimichangas, tortilla chips, salsa, sweet yellow bell peppers, crunchy carrots sticks, and apple slices. And milk. The chimichangas were from a package of store-bought frozen ones. I feel half-guilty admitting they were purchased chimichangas. However, bought on sale, they are really inexpensive and make for a frugal supper. Snacks
Christmas chocolates. Yes, they were a gift.
Yours in thriftiness,
P.S. If you were expecting this month of no buying groceries to show us eating all frugal foods that are particularly healthy…well, you are seeing that isn’t the case. We aren’t purists who follow a keto, raw, vegan, vegetarian, Virgin, South Beach, Atkins, or other particular diet.
